Rescue Remedy is a blend of five Bach Flower Essences. The flower essences used to make Rescue Remedy include impatiens, clematis, rock rose, cherry plum, and star of Bethelem.

In combination, these flower essences are used to remedy irritability, agitation, muscle tension, muscle pain, unconsciousness, faintness, terror, panic, hysteria, mental trauma, physical trauma, and loss of mental or physical control.

That’s a tall order!

The goal of using Rescue Remedy in pets is to restore calm, reassurance, and relaxation. Although many companies have tried to duplicate its success, Rescue Remedy remains to be the single most important remedy in helping animals.

Some people refer to Rescue Remedy as “a first-aid kit in a bottle.” Indeed, it can be all that is needed to rescue a pet from its current predicament and restore normal functioning.

However, it is NOT a replacement for proper veterinary care. For emergnecy situations it should be used only while en route to your veterinarian. It may help an animal get over initial shock but further treatment should be obtained as quickly as possible.

After receiving medical attention Rescue Remedy can also be used in combination with any other treatment used during an immediate crisis resulting from an accident, shock, or trauma. It can also be used to help calm a pet down after undergoing a dental treatment or surgery.

Rescue Remedy is often used as a natural alternative to sedatives and tranquilizers. Many owners report that their pets become more relaxed and calm after being treated with Rescue Remedy. Car rides, thunderstorms, and visits to the vet or groomer can all be made less stressful using this combination of flower essences.

For best results, start giving Rescue Remedy at least 24 hours before you know the stressful event will occur. Many owners keep a close eye on the weather report in the summertime for pending storms. Repeat the dosage every 4 hours until the stressful event is over.

Even if not given prior to a stressful event, Rescue Remedy can be used to produce an immediate calming effect. Some indications include: adapting to the loss of an owner or companion, stress due to being left alone, or anxiety when adapting to new surroundings (new home, kennel, etc.).

Many veterinarians even offer Rescue Remedy to pet owners during emergency situations to calm them down.  This is turn also makes the pet more comfortable.
